In an effort to strengthen disaster risk reduction and management capability of local government units, the Weather Philippines Foundation Inc. (WPF) along with the Aboitiz Group of Companies and Meteo Group, turned-over an automated weather station in Bauang December 4.

Bauang along with the Municipalities of Luna, Caba, Bacnotan and Agoo were identified by WPF meteorologists as priority sites in the province. Last November 20, after an orientation on the Weather Station Rollout and the on the portal of WPF, the Automated Weather Station was installed in a strategic area in the Municipality. “A five-day forecast of the weather and temperature will now be readily available, Engr John Louise S. JuanJeffrey M. Alcanz said. “We try to bring free and critical weather forecasts to the Filipino people to reduce disaster risks,” he added.

The automated weather station is a solar-powered system which has a rain gauge that can measure rainfall
